In a unanimous decision Tuesday night, the Tahoma School Board adopted a 90-minute Friday early release schedule for the 2012-2013 school year.

School calendars for next year will be posted on the Tahoma web site by noon Wednesday.

The school board decision came at a special meeting, attended by about 50 people, including staff members and parents.

The board heard comments for and against the proposal but chose to adopt the new schedule because it offers the best opportunity to provide consistent professional staff development as Tahoma moves ahead with Classroom 10 and compliance with national Common Core Standards.
