Tahoma, Kentlake musical productions receive nominations, honorable mentions for 5th Avenue high school musical awards.

The ceremony to announce the winners will be held June 9.

Musical productions this year form Kentlake and Tahoma have been nominated for various categories at the 12th annual 5th Avenue Theater high school musical awards.

From Tahoma high, Katie Duffy received a nomination for outstanding performance by an actress in a leading role as Maria in the school’s production of “The Sound of Music.” Additionally Tahoma student Rachel Bridges was nominated in the student achievement category.

Additionally Alex Marx received an honorable mention for her role as Mother Abbess in “The Sound of Music” in the category of outstanding performance by an actress in a supporting role, and the stage crew for “The Sound of Music” received an honorable mention in the outstanding stage crew category.

Kentlake student Devin Bovee received a nomination for outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of Igor in “Young Frankenstein.”

Kentlake’s productions of “Young Frankenstein” and “Shrek the Musial” both received honorable mentions for outstanding scenic design. “Shrek” also received an honorable mention for costume design and outstanding stage crew, and Kentlake actress Morgan Thompson received an honorable mention in the category of outstanding performance by an actress in a featured ensemble for her portrayal of Dragon in “Shrek the Musical.”

The ceremony is set to take place on June 9.
