Tahoma High Students have again set the bar high with 167 students earning the designation of AP Scholar this year, and 18 of those were also recognized as AP National Scholars.
This year represents a 48 percent increase over the number of students who were recognized last year.
AP Scholars are recognized for their achievements on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams administered by The College Board.
From the class of 2013 16 students were recognized as AP National Scholars, meaning that they earned an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5 point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more exams. Those students are: Alissa Bates, Benjamin Fitter, Heidi Grether, Shanan Hopp, Rylee Jones, James Love, Dessa Meehan, Joseph Myers, Olivia Ranft, Angela Rocchi, Jacob Seely, Miranda Smith, Connor Taylor, Hannah Wheeler, William Wheeler, and Matthew Whittlesey
Two students from the class of 2014, Arthur Downer and Ashton Ohms, were also recognized as National Scholars.
Sixty-seven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of 3.5 or higher on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more exams.
