Tagged fish tickets for the Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce Hooked On Fishing derby scheduled for April 24 will go on sale Thursday, April 1.
The tagged fish, dubbed Mr. Wigglesworth, is worth $300 and must be presented to derby officials at derby headquarters and verified by noon on derby day, Saturday, April 24.
Derby tickets must be signed at the time of purchase and the signature will be verified at the time of presentation.
Tickets will be on sale until midnight, Friday, April 23 in Lake Wilderness Park.
Tickets are on sale at these locations: BECU (in the Four Corners Safeway), Columbia Bank (Maple Valley), John L. Scott (Maple Valley), Johnson’s Home and Garden, Junior Junction Day School, Maple Valley Vision Clinic, Wilderness Auto Service and Chevron and the Chamber office. Tickets will also be on sale until midnight, Friday, April 23rd in Lake Wilderness Park.
The tagged fish has been caught twice. In 2003, Nathan Cairns was the first person in the history of the derby to catch the tagged trout.
Nathan Geringer caught the tagged trout, Sir Lucas, in 2009 which weighed in at 101 ounces measured 26-inches long.
Derby activities begin Friday, April 23 and continue through Saturday, April 24.
