King County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for three suspects following a home invasion robbery that happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday in Covington.

The incident happened in The Reserve neighborhood in the 25700 block of 160th Place SE. The home owners were home when the suspects reportedly kicked in the front door.

A release from the King County Sheriff’s Office said when deputies arrived on the scene, a vehicle was seen parked down the street with its headlights on.

As deputies approached the home, all three suspects fled on foot in different directions.

One suspect, who was carrying a rifle, dropped it as he jumped a fence. The rifle along with items from the home were recovered by deputies.

Another one of the suspects ran to a nearby car. While being chased by a deputy, the suspect managed to get in the vehicle and drive off.

The vehicle was found crashed nearby and the suspect then fled on foot.

The homeowners told deputies, the suspects went straight for the master bedroom. And while the three ransacked the room, they demanded to know the location of the “safe” and “money,” the release stated.

The release said the husband and wife were assaulted by the suspects, they were struck in the head with a rifle and pistol. Both had head wounds but were conscious when deputies spoke to them.

They were treated at Covington MultiCare for their injuries.

The couple have two young children who were home during the incident but were not harmed.

K-9 units responded to the scene, the release said, and during a search for the suspects, some clothing was found. It is believed to have been discarded by one of the suspects.

The three are described as wearing masks and hooded jackets. One suspect was wearing black, another red and the third was wearing white.

A Facebook post from the city of Covington Tuesday afternoon stated the King County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incident.

The post read the Major Crimes Unit is asking for any residents in the neighborhood who have surveillance/security cameras to check them for any possible footage of the three suspects.
