The 2011 Summer’s End Fun Run at 8 a.m. Sept. 18 at Kentwood High School.

There will be a junior one mile fun run, a 5k walk/run and a 10k run.

The cost is $10 for children under 12 and $15 for adults.

Those who pre-register by Sept. 11 will be able to order a custom t-shirt for $10.

Participants will be able to register at the event, but the fee will be increased. Food and beverages will be available, and there will be music featured. Medals will be given to the top three finishers in each race.

The event is being put on by the Coalition for Healthy Community. Formerly held in the July to coincide with Covington Days, the Fun Run was pushed back to the fall.

According to Pam Kramer, lead dietician at Multicare Clinic in Covington, the date was switched in order to draw more participants.

“We can market it to them, and let the kids and parents know about it much more effectively than in the summer,” she said.

The event is sponsored by Outpatient Physical Therapy.
