Sterling Connell, Meeker Middle School student and Eagle Scout candidate, completed a project at the Ravensdale Cemetery April 16 to begin its restoration.
Miners killed in a coal mine explosion were buried in the cemetery.
Connell and 63 other volunteers cleared out the grave areas, taking out brush and blackberries. Connell contacted Cedar Grove Compostin, who donated 6,000 pounds of yard waste recycling that was delivered Saturday in 10 truckloads by Sterling’s crew of volunteers.
Connell organized 275 man hours on the day of the project.
