Maple Valley Days is back this weekend.
Starting Friday and continuing through Sunday, the community festival will include family-oriented activities and entertainment, most of it at Lake Wilderness Park.
The festival grounds at the park (23601 224th Ave. SE.) will be open Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here’s a rundown on what to see and do (information also available at www.maplevalleydays.com:
Grange Breakfast at Maple Valley Community Center: Saturday and Sunday morning.
Maple Valley Street Rats Classic Car Show: Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Maple Valley Amateur Radio Club demonstrations: Saturday, 8 a.m.- 9 p.m.
Maple Valley Historical Society:Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Maple Valley Arts Festival: Juried art show, artists’ demonstrations and entertainment, Saturday noon-7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Information at www.MapleValleyArts.com
Maple leaf contest: Real Life Church-sponsored contest for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade. The grand prize for the largest leaf is a Razor go-cart. Entries will be accepted at noon Saturday through Sunday. The winner will be announced at 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
Radio-controlled hydros:Saturday noon- 4 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Bear Run: Sunday 9-11 a.m. Run, jog, or walk around Lake Wilderness; four-mile, moderately hilly course starts and finishes at the park. Register at 432-1671 or CliffPT@aol.com Cost of entry, including a souvenir t-shirt, is $20 ($10 for kids 12 and under) if postmarked by June 10. Late entries (add $5) will be accepted in the staging area up to 30 minutes before the race starts.
Parade: Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon. Starts at Lake Wilderness Elementary School and ends at Lake Wilderness Park. Get there early in order to get a good spot. Parade is on Witte Road.
Safety Trailer: Friday 3-4:30 p,m Saturday 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m,, 3-5 p.m. Sunday noon-2 p.m., 3-4:30 p.m.
Kiwanis bicycle helmets and safety trailer: Saturday 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Helmets sold and fitted for $5 apiece.
