Committee will also hear from Council’s SODO arena panel

Christopher Hansen, the private investor who has presented a proposal to construct a new arena in Seattle’s Stadium District, will meet with the Metropolitan King County Council’s Budget and Fiscal Management Committee:

Tuesday, June 19

1:30 p.m.

County Council Chambers

King County Courthouse, 10th floor

While this is a regular meeting of the Budget Committee, all of the members of the County Council have been invited to attend. The meeting will be carried LIVE on King County TV, seen on Comcast and Broadstripe Cable Channel 22.

This will be Hansen’s first meeting with one of the two Councils that will vote on the memorandum of understanding negotiated between Hansen, County Executive Constantine and Mayor McGinn to construct a facility with the ability to host NBA and NHL teams.

Committee members will also have their first meeting with the independent panel created to provide the Council independent analysis of the plan. Appointed by Budget Chair Joe McDermott, the members of the panel are experts in economics, public finance, public-private partnerships, labor, urban development and transportation.

Tuesday’s meeting will be the first opportunity for members of the arena panel to meet with Councilmembers since the committee was announced May 29.
