South King County Group Sierra Club and Rainier Audubon Society, in coordination with King County Parks, will be hosting a habitat restoration event at Soos Creek Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 5.

The area was previously infested with invasive non-native plants such as blackberries, scotch broom, holly, English laurel, ivy, and reed canary grass. Over the last several years we’ve cleared all that and replanted with native species.

The focus of this event will be to remove newly rebounding populations of invasives and clear around our native plantings to assure the site continues to recover.

Tools, drinks, and snacks will be provided, but please bring your own work gloves (we’ll have some on hand if you don’t have them) and dress for the work and weather as this is a rain-or-shine event. Volunteers should meet at the south parking lot at 148th Ave SE & 266th St. SE.
