Slide Show: Carnival to raise funds for team in three-day breast cancer walk

The Valley Girls and Guys are hosting a back to school carnival from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Maple Valley Community Center.

The Valley Girls and Guys are hosting a back to school carnival from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Maple Valley Community Center.

There will be a $10 entry fee and funds raised will go to support the Valley Girls and Guys, a local team participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk Sept. 11-13 in the Seattle area.

The team was created in 2008 in memory of Michelle Brown who lost her battle with breast cancer in December of 2007.

Each team member must walk 60 miles in three days and raise a minimum of $2,300. The team has 50 team members and a goal of $200,000.

The team is growing daily and encourages anyone interested to join.
