The Maple Valley City Council invites the public to join them at The Beach House Bash at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Lake Wilderness Park Beach.

The event kick starts the beginning of the new beach house coming to Lake Wilderness.

Children are welcome to bring their own shovels and help break ground.

Ladies golf club is back at it

The Lake Wilderness Ladies Golf Club is dusting off their clubs and ready to start playing again.

From March until October, the club plays Tuesday mornings at the Lake Wilderness Golf Course.

March features student art

The city of Covington has designated the month of March as Youth Art Month.

Local students artwork will be on display throughout the city for the next month.

This is the 13th anniversary of the Student Art Show where 732 art pieces will be displayed in 24 different businesses across the city, according to a media release.

“The event has grown and taken shape with the combined effort of these groups and volunteers who carefully organize and hang the art,” the release stated.

The release added the Covington Arts Commission has coordinated this to bring attention to local arts and “the amazing amount of young talent in the community.”

Maple Valley recognized as a safe place to live

The city of Maple Valley was once again recognized as a safe place to live.

The National Council for Home Safety and Security ranked Maple Valley in the top five safest cities in Washington.

Local middle schooler, junior hockey team wins title

Michael Geddes, a student at Maple View Middle School in Covington, and the Seattle Junior Hockey Association’s 14U A1 Junior Admirals won the state title Feb. 24.

The Junior Admirals beat the Wenatchee Wolverines to win the Washington State Tier 1 title.

Winning the first two games in a best of three tournament, the Junior Admirals secured its spot in the USA Hockey Pacific District Tier 1 tournament March 8-11 in San Jose, California.

“This is an incredible accomplishment for our team,” said coach Regan Mueller in a release. “We’ve been working towards this goal all season and are thrilled to represent Washington at districts.”
