Sarah Kearney fights for her life following hit-and run crash while family asks for prayersand authories seek information

Sarah Kearney, the 21-year-old Maple Valley woman who was critically injured during a hit-and-run crash Tuesday, continues to fight for her life at Harborview Medical Center.

Heather Kearney, Sarah Kearney’s sister, said during a phone interview today, “at this point she is still in critical condition, and we are asking for all the prayers in the world, any and all prayers. She is a fighter and I know she will pull through this.”

Heather Kearney said her sister will turn 22-years-old May 17.

Sarah Kearney suffered life-threatening injuries during the crash. The family and state patrol are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound state Route 18, west of state Route 516.

A state patrol press release stated Sarah Kearney was airlifted from the scene to “Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.”

According to Trooper Dan McDonald the state patrol wants to find the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision.

McDonald said the state patrol believes the vehicle is a “late 90s or early 2000 Isuzu flatbed, landscape-style truck.”

A state patrol release sent today stated, “Detectives believe the running vehicle may be a medium-duty landscaping style truck with either a tilt bed or dump-style bed. The truck will be missing the left taillight assembly and horizontal steel support post for the taillight. There may also be additional impact damage to the truck.”

The first press release stated the troopers found Sarah Kearney’s 2007 white Mustang with two black racing stripes, “blocking the right lane just before the exit to SR-516.”

There was extensive damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.

McDonald said troopers thought initially Sarah Kearney may have rear ended the other vehicle, but further investigation has brought new evidence to light.

“We want to talk to the driver of the vehicle,” McDonald said.

The state patrol is asking anyone with information about the suspect vehicle, or any repair shops that may have received orders for these parts, to call Detective Ruth Medeiros at 425-401-7719.
