Santa is coming to town

The Black Diamond Community Center will be hosting its holiday celebration on Friday, Dec. 7.

Caroling, hot chocolate and cookies will be available for all to enjoy. Along with the arrival of Santa on a Christmas fire engine.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the community center, 31605 3rd Ave. along state Route 169.

The event is free and open to the public and includes photos with Santa.

Annual chamber breakfast mid-December

The South Sound Chambers of Commerce is hosting a legislative breakfast Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Registration and breakfast begins at 7 a.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. at Emerald Downs in Auburn.

Topics to be discussed include transportation, housing and higher education important to the South Sound region.

Celebrate new Family Hope Center

Vine Maple Place is hosting a grand opening celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at its new Family Hope Center.

The celebration includes a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., self-guided tours and refreshments. The open house is open to all.

According to a release from Vine Maple Place, more families facing homelessness will be served through its Family Hope Center.

The celebration will be held at 21730 Dorre Don Way SE, Maple Valley.

Unincorporated council monthly meeting

The Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council will host its monthly meeting from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Maple Valley Fire Station No. 81.

Guest speakers at this month’s meeting include Tahoma School District Superintendent Tony Giurado and Fire Chief Aaron Tyerman.

Holiday light display

The Very Merry Christmas House of Lights is up and running.

The display features more than 50,000 lights synchronized to holiday music.

Free drive by viewing is open now until Jan. 2 from dusk until 11:30 p.m. The display is located at Crest Air Park at 30211 176th Ave. SE in Covington.

A can food drive benefits the Black Diamond senior center and food bank.
