Drivers need to be prepared for nightly closures on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass next week for rock blasting.
The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews plan to close I-90 in both directions for an hour or more starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 through Thursday, Oct. 3. The pass will be closed eastbound at Gold Creek (milepost 56) and westbound at Price Creek (milepost 61). A reopening time depends on the amount of debris that comes down and repairs needed to the highway. Drivers are encouraged to use exits before the closure points to access services. During the closures, there are no services eastbound past milepost 53 and westbound past milepost 70.
Drivers will experience minor delays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 due to intermittent rolling slowdowns from milepost 56 to 62. Maintenance crews plan to close the pass for about an hour starting at 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 to move girders. The pass will close eastbound at Gold Creek (milepost 56) and westbound at Price Creek (milepost 61).
