Recycle collection event at Kentwood High School Saturday

The City of Covington in coordination with King County Solid Waste Division is co-hosting a recycling collection event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kentwood High School, 25800 164th Ave. S.E., Covington on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The City of Covington in coordination with King County Solid Waste Division is co-hosting a recycling collection event from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kentwood High School, 25800 164th Ave. S.E., Covington on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Residents are encouraged to bring recyclable household materials they no longer need including: tires, motor oil, filters, antifreeze, lead acid batteries, household batteries, household goods and clothing, cardboard, bulky wood, appliances and scrap metal, refrigerators and freezers, electronic equipment and more. There is a minimal charge for hot water heaters, toilets, tires on rims, sinks and refrigerators. Please do not bring garbage mattresses, furniture, window glass, trash, construction debris or hazardous waste.

Computer monitors and televisions will not be accepted at this event either. However, Washington now has a free program called E-Cycle Washington for computers, monitors, laptops and televisions. Residents wishing to recycle these items can call 1-800-RECYCLE or visit 1800recycle.wa.gov to find authorized E-Cycle collection locations.

Computer keyboards, mice and printers are accepted at neighborhood collection events.
