Garage sale fundraiser

The Regional Animal Services of King County is hosting a garage sale.

All of the proceeds are going toward outfitting the cat colony room at the Pet Adoption Center in Kent.

The fundraiser is from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on today, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13 at the King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent.

Donated household and pet items will be on sale.

Ravensdale Park play area opens

The King County Parks has finished major work on the Ravensdale Park play area and it is now open.

The work done was part of King County Park’s annual playground equipment inspection and maintenance program.

They inspect the play areas at the 29 parks across the County’s system.

The work takes about 10 weeks to complete The Ravensdale Park is the fourth of 13 projects that King County Parks has completed with levy funding.

Preparing for a disaster class

Community Emergency Response Team is a disaster preparedness course to help people know what to do in emergencies.

The course teaches the necessary skills for assessing a disastrous situation.

The class makes sure to teach participants how to gain the confidence to react productively and responsibly in a disaster.

There is a $40 fee for the class.

To register for the class go to maplevalleyfire.org and check under the classes section for registration.

The class runs from Sept. 13 to Nov. 1.
