Puget Sound Partnership’s Leadership Council appoints science panel

At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Puget Sound Partnership’s Leadership Council appointed seven individuals to the Science Panel.

At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Puget Sound Partnership’s Leadership Council appointed seven individuals to the Science Panel, which advises the Partnership’s efforts to develop a science-based comprehensive plan to restore Puget Sound. The Leadership Council also appointed three individuals to the Ecosystem Coordination Board, which serves as the agency’s policy advisory body.

The three new appointments to the Science Panel, with terms ending Nov. 10, 2018, include:

Barbara Bentley: Professor emeritus, Department of Ecology and Evolution, SUNY Stony Brook; President and CEO, Noetica Naturalists; Coordinator for “Inquiry in Rainforests: an in-service program for teachers” with Organization for Tropical Studies

Robert Ewing: Director of Timberlands Strategic Planning for Weyerhaeuser

Eric Strecker: Principal Water Resources Engineer and Fisheries Biologist with Geosyntec Consultants

The four re-appointments to the Science Panel, with terms ending Nov. 10, 2018, include:

Wayne Landis: Director and Professor, Institute of Environmental Toxicology, Huxley College of the Environment, Western Washington University

Timothy Quinn: Chief scientist of the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife’s habitat program; Adjunct Faculty in the Masters of Environmental Studies program at The Evergreen State College

John Stark: Director of the Washington State University, Puyallup Research and Extension Center; Professor in the Ecotoxicology Program at Washington State University; Director of the Washington Stormwater Center

Trina Wellman: Associate Marine Environmental Economist with Northern Economics Inc.

Ecosystem Coordination Board appointments

 

Puget Soundkeeper Alliance Executive Director Chris Wilke was newly appointed to the Ecosystem Coordination Board to represent environmental interests. Wilke fills the vacancy left by Chris Davis, formerly of The Nature Conservancy. Wilke’s term ends June 30, 2018.

Reappointments to the Ecosystem Coordination Board, with terms ending June 30, 2018, include:

Skagit County Commissioner Ron Wesen, representing Whidbey Island Action Area

King County Executive Dow Constantine, representing South Central Puget Sound Action Area
