The Maple Valley Public Works Department is about to be at full strength again.
Interim City Manager Christy Todd told the City Council at the March 2 study session Steve Clark has accepted the public works director position with the city. Clark will start April 1.
Also Dan Mattson will begin as the capital projects manager for public works in April.
The city has been without a public works director since August 2008 when Nick Afzali left.
Clark is currently the Public Works Director for Burien.
Mattson will be coordinating all the major roads projects for the city, including the work on Witte Road. He will be responsible for the bids and working with the contractors.
Public Works is responsible for the maintaining and building the infrastructure for the city, including storm water drainage, sewer and road projects.
Clark’s salary will be $117,500 per year and Mattson’s will be $82,000.
