A position of reserve police office for the Maple Valley Police Department and King County Sheriff’s Office is currently available.
Interested candidates are invited to attend a question and answer session that will be hosted by the Maple Valley Police Department on Aug. 1, from 6:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Wilderness Lodge, Rainier Room.
All applicants must be 21, a high school graduate or a have GED equivalent and have no felony convictions. They must either be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who has applied for citizenship. They must also have a Washington State driver’s license.
The reserve officer would be required to serve a minimum of 32 hours per month in the first year and 20 hours per month from thereon out.
Applicants who successfully process through the selection procedure will be required to attend and complete an approved Reserve Police Training Academy held on some weekend days and some alternating evenings per week.
It is preferred that applicants live in Maple Valley or within a 20-mile radius of the city limits.
Specific skills desired are college level work in written and oral communication or Police Science, knowledge of personal computers and bilingual abilities.
The position closing date is Aug. 15.
