A cache of stolen property was located in Covington by police this morning and now investigators begin the process of locating the owners of the items.  One item, a Japanese katana style sword brought back from WWII by a Marine has already been returned to the family of the late veteran.

A fellow Marine now working as a deputy with the Covington Police knew about the loss, recognized the sword, and returned it to the grateful family. The sword was stolen from the Covington house of the late WWII vet’s grandson in January.

The investigation of drugs and stolen property led Maple Valley, Covington, and King County Sheriff’s detectives to a house in the Timberlane area of Covington. The KCSO Tac 30 Unit (SWAT) safely secured the house without incident or injury just before 6:00 am on Friday.  Detectives searched the house, locating a large amount of stolen items suspected to be stolen from throughout south King County.

Two people were arrested for investigation of narcotics during the search.  Detectives will begin working to identify the owners of the many items recovered.  Expect updates from KCSO on the return of the stolen property.
