Plan for added travel time for Memorial Day weekend on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass

Memorial Day weekend signals the unofficial kickoff for summer travel, and the Washington State Department of Transportation reminds drivers to plan their trips before taking off this weekend.

Drivers should expect delays on I-90 over the holiday weekend between Cle Elum and Easton and between Hyak and Keechelus Dam. Two lanes will be open in both directions, but drivers will experience narrow shoulders and reduced speeds in the work zone over the holiday weekend. Drivers are encouraged to check WSDOT’s predicted travel volumes on all key weekend travel routes.

To minimize impacts to holiday travelers, crews will not be working on I-90 on Friday, May 24, through Monday, May 27.

Next week, crews are closing I-90 for two hours each night Tuesday through Thursday for rock blasting. Traffic will be stopped from the west side at Gold Creek (milepost 56) and from the east side at Price Creek (milepost 61) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 28 through 30.
