SMOKE FROM GARAGE: 21800 block of SE 271st. Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety firefighters were dispatched to a home fire at about 6 p.m. At the scene firefighters found the fire already extinguished. A neighbor saw smoke in the garage, called the fire department and alerted the homeowners to evacuate. Neighbors extinguished the fire with a dry chemical fire extinguisher and soaked the smoldering contents with a garden hose. The damage was limited to articles of clothing and a rug that were in the garage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage was estimated at $100.
Aug. 14
ACCIDENT: 22400 block of 276 Avenue Southeast. At 1 a.m. in emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle accident. Aid 81,85 and engine 81 and battalion chief 81 responded and found a single car with air bags deployed that had crashed into a fence at Levdansky Park. The patient was extricated from the vehicle, treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital.
