Residents of Covington have numerous opportunities to participate in National Night Out activities around the community.
The event is part of a nation-wide effort sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.
National Night Out 2009 started 26 years ago and according to the Web site it is designed to:
• heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and
• send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The following are a list of activities in Covington.
• Foxwood Neighborhood, in the cul-de-sac at west end of South East 257th.
• Stonefield Development, small community park at 260/166 Place South East.
• The reserve neighborhood at small community park west side of 163 South East at 25800 block.
• Covington Place Senior Center in the social room, 26902 169 Pl. S.E.
