Morning fire at Kent home – no injuries, family of four displaced | Kent Regional Fire Authority

A family of four was displaced from their Kent Easthill home by a smoky fire early this morning. At about 4 a.m. the family noticed a smoke odor in the bedroom. When they opened the bedroom door to search for the source of the odor, they found the living room charged with smoke. They immediately left the house and called 911.

A family of four was displaced from their Kent Easthill home by a smoky fire early this morning. At about 4 a.m. the family noticed a smoke odor in the bedroom. When they opened the bedroom door to search for the source of the odor, they found the living room charged with smoke. They immediately left the house and called 911.

Kent and Renton Fire Department emergency units were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire. The home, located in the 21200 block of 104 Avenue Southeast, has been undergoing recent remodeling and the cause of the fire is under investigation. There were smoke alarms in the home, but it is unknown if they were working at the time of the fire.

No injuries to the residents or firefighters. The displaced family will be staying with relatives locally.

Fire safety tip

Only working smoke alarms can alert residents to a possible fire. Test smoke alarms regularly and be sure to change the batteries at least twice a year. An easy rule of thumb is to replace the batteries when you change your clocks.
