Volunteers needed

The Black Diamond Community Center is looking for new volunteers for the senior lunch program Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Lunches are served at noon and prep begins at 10 a.m.

Volunteers are needed for various roles including helping prepare food, serving the seniors with coffee and food, clearing tables, cleaning the kitchen along with other tasks.

To volunteer, a food worker card is a must. To apply, fill out a volunteer application form. You must also pass a background check in order to volunteer.

Shoreline restoration workshop coming soon

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at Glacier Park Elementary School in Maple Valley the King Conservation District will be hosting a workshop on how to care for stream-side property.

Topics will include:

• Minimizing pollution runoff

• Invasive plant removal and restoration techniques

• Landscaping with native plant species

• Environmental regulations that may impact your property

Mental health first aid training

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Maple View Middle School in Maple Valley, Valley Cities will be hosting a training to help attendees learn how to help those with mental health or substance use problems.
