Tahoma School District is providing seven weekly summer math packets for students in grades 7-12. Packets span a range from prealgebra to precalculus. Parents will get the math packet that is customized for the level of math their child had during the 2009-2010 school year. Our intent is to provide students with math practice to help prevent summer learning loss. Research shows that students can lose up to three months of learning over the summer months. We want to keep student math skills sharp and prepare for a smooth start into math classes in September. There are a variety of activities including skill sheets, cartoons, puzzles, crosswords, practice problems, and problem solving. We hope you have a wonderful summer break and include some learning time in math.
Students needing help with the math packets can attend a weekly math help session. These are staffed by our calculus students and one of our teachers.
Sessions are 9-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 4 in the Board Room at the Tahoma Central Services Center, 25720 Maple Valley-Black Diamond Road S.E.
