The Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra is expanding its low-cost summer program to two camps in August.
The first camp, an orchestra camp, will be offered Aug. 4-8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. daily at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. Students in fourth grade and above with one year or more playing experience on a string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument are welcome. The theme is super hero music. Students will study music from “The Avengers,” “Superman Returns,” “The Incredibles” and more. A concert will be held on the last evening of camp at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The second camp, a special needs music camp, will be offered Aug. 11-15 from 10 a.m.-noon daily at Taylor Creek Church. This camp has been created by MVYSO’s music therapist and recreation therapist with the cognitive and physical needs of special needs students in mind. Student in second grade and above are welcome. No musical experience is required.
