Five community projects in District 9 unincorporated communities will receive county grants through the King County’s Community Service Area program, according to a press release.

The Greater Maple Valley Area Council received two grants totaling $4,000, which will go to support their annual train show in Ravensdale along with a survey and their newsletter.

“I was glad to have worked with my colleagues on the council to increase this year’s grant funds by 50 percent in order to better support unincorporated communities,” King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn said. “These grants help to create more active and vibrant communities.”

More than 72,000 residents are living in council District 9 Community Service Area. The grant program is available through an application process that is competitive.

The grants must be used to fund community projects for residents in the Community Service Area. The program is meant to provide residents an opportunity be more connected to their communities.
