Maple Valley seeking library board members

The city of Maple Valley is recruiting applicants for appointment to serve on the city's Library Advisory Board. The appointed members will serve for a three-year period January 2011 through December 2013.

The city of Maple Valley is recruiting applicants for appointment to serve on the city’s Library Advisory Board. The appointed members will serve for a three-year period January 2011 through December 2013. The Library Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and coordinates with the Board of Trustees of the King County Library System. Board activities include making recommendations for library services and proposed facilities, attending and providing input during the King County Library System annual budget hearings, and preparing and presenting an annual report of library operations to the City Council.

The five-member Board meets bimonthly at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month with the first meeting of each year taking place in February. Appointment to the Board will be made by the mayor, with confirmation by the City Council. Applicants must be residents of the city of Maple Valley or reside within the Maple Valley library service area or own, operate or be employed by business entities located within the Maple Valley Service Area as defined by the King County Library System.

Applications are also available at City Hall, 22017 SE Wax Road, Suite 200, or the Maple Valley Library, 21844 SE 248th Street. Applications will be received through December 17. Applicants will be asked to meet with the mayor and deputy mayor for a short interview.
