The Maple Valley Food Bank & Emergency Services has set up an online community survey to gather information about the need for social service programs directed at low to moderately-low income households.
The survey can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com, or at the food bank website. The survey should take about five minutes to complete, is anonymous and the deadline is February 24.
The vision of the food bank focuses on building a healthy community free of hunger.
Due to the regional economic downturn with rising unemployment figures, the demographics significantly changed for the community members who find themselves in need of services. The faces of hunger include those in a crisis situation due to medical costs, poor health, job loss, disability, mental health issues, abandonment by a spouse or partner, abusive situations, delinquency of child support payments, seniors living on fixed incomes, low income wages and the recently unemployed.
The food bank service area includes Maple Valley, Covington, Black Diamond, Hobart, Ravensdale and the Tahoma School District boundaries.
The food bank staff asks if anyone knows of other community members who may be interested in completing the survey to forward a link to them. When you complete the survey and provide contact information, the food bank will share a synopsis of the completed survey results.
