Incident of the week

July 21 at 4:20 pm in the 24800 block of SE 235th Place we were dispatched to a residential structure fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small mother-in-law unit fully involved. There are no fire hydrants in the area so firefighters used the engine tank water to do a quick knock down of the fire with the deck gun and then used hand lines to ensure it didn’t spread to the main residence which was 5 feet away. When the water tender arrived on scene firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. No one was home at the time and no there were no injuries. The neighbor that reported the fire rescued the two family dogs. Loss was estimated at $45,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
