Maple Valley City Council seeks volunteers for new Public Arts Commission

The Arts Commission will assist the council in its selection of public art that will be funded through a public art program as funding is available.

The Maple Valley City Council wishes to establish the city’s first Public Arts Commission and seeks volunteers to serve.

The Arts Commission will assist the council in its selection of public art that will be funded through a public art program as funding is available. There will be seven members and no more than two alternates. The commission will meet at least quarterly and will establish regular meeting dates once members have been appointed.

Appointment to the commission will be made by the mayor, with confirmation by the City Council. The commission will include among its seven members: one youth representative of high school age who attends a school within the Tahoma School District; one representative from the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council; five members and each alternate shall reside within the corporate limits of the city of Maple Valley.

Applicants will be requested to meet with the mayor, deputy mayor and city manager fora brief interview.
