Man with suspended license parks illegally in handicap stall in front of police officer | Black Diamond Police Blotter

An officer observed a vehicle pull into a posted handicap parking spot at a business along 29200 216th Avenue Southeast. The vehicle did not have a handicap placard displayed or have handicapped plates.

  • ASSAULT: 29200 216th Avenue Southeast. Dispatch sent officers to an assault report that had occurred in front of a business along 29200 216th Avenue Southeast. The male victim said while he was exiting the business another male approached him and punched him in the face. The victim said he knew the subject from school, but did not want to get in an altercation so he left the area. The victim said the subject followed him to a nearby park where he attempted to continue the assault. The victim said he fought back this time and the subject fled the area. The male subject who initiated the assault was identified and the case is still under investigation.

  • BAD PARKING: 29200 216th Avenue Southeast. An officer observed a vehicle pull into a posted handicap parking spot at a business along 29200 216th Avenue Southeast. The vehicle did not have a handicap placard displayed or have handicapped plates. The officer contacted the male driver and identified him by his out-of-state driver’s license. The male driver advised there was no other parking spots available and stated his license was suspended. The male driver was issued a criminal citation for the suspended license and custody of his vehicle was given to a friend with a valid license.

  • DUI: SE 288th Street. Officers were dispatched to an accident involving a possible drunk driver. Upon arrival in the area officers located the subjects involved in the accident approximately a mile from where it had occurred. The male driver that had reported the accident advised he was traveling southbound on 216th Ave SE, the other male driver went through the stop sign at SE 288th Street, striking the back corner of his vehicle. The male driver that failed to stop then fled from the scene, eventually deciding to stop his vehicle a mile from where the accident occurred. Officers contacted this male driver who exhibited signs of intoxication. The male subject then agreed to complete standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed. After being placed under arrest for DUI, the male driver was transported to Buckley jail where he submitted to a breath test. The male driver was booked into jail on DUI and hit and run charges.
