• FALL: Firefighters responded to a 9-1-1 call for a man that fell off of a horse. The initial information that we received was the man fell off of a horse about 30 minutes prior to calling 9-1-1 and was acting confused, had blurry vision, and was dizzy when he stood up. When the firefighters arrived they found the man sitting in a chair when they arrived on scene. The man was dizzy and had back pain. The responders put the patient on a backboard and he was transported to the hospital. The man fell off of a horse onto grass. He was not wearing a helmet. He then moved inside and sat on a chair.

A fall from a horse can cause significant injury depending on a list of variables. It is always a good idea to wear a helmet anytime you ride a horse. Injuries from a fall, included from a horse, can cause head, neck, and spine injuries.

Anytime someone has a fall from a height it is best to leave them on the ground, unless they are in some sort of danger, and call 9-1-1 to have them checked out.

Anytime someone with a head, neck, or back injury moves they can put themselves at risk for further injury.
