An adult male was rescued off the Green River today by the Kent Fire Department/Regional Fire Authority after a passerby reported a possible drowning in the 22000 block of Frager Road.
When firefighters arrived, shortly after 4 p.m., the man was on the edge of the river and conscious. He appeared to be suffering from an unknown medical condition as well as exposure to the extremely cold water of the river.
Firefighters and paramedics provided medical assistance to the man at the river bank until a rescue stokes basket could be lowered down to them using the tiller ladder truck. Ladder trucks have the ability to lower their aerial ladder below parallel to the ground.
Using this system, the man was brought up the bank, evaluated by medics, and taken to a local hospital.
It is unknown how the man got into the river or why he was there.
