King County will have free public tours of its Cedar Hills Regional Landfill in Maple Valley on Saturday, Sept. 10. The tour begins at 9 a.m. and lasts about one hour.
This tour is designed for adults. Tours for school-aged children and school groups can be arranged by calling 206-296-4490.
The last operating landfill in King County, Cedar Hills encompasses 920 acres and accepts about 800,000 tons of garbage each year from King County, save for the cities of Seattle and Milton.

Parking is provided at the landfill, 16645 228th Ave S.E., Maple Valley. The participants will board a Metro bus for the guided tour.The bus is wheelchair accessible.
To ensure safety, tour participants must wear closed toe footwear and adhere to all traffic signs at the landfill.
