Committee will meet at the Pacific Science Center 200 Second Avenue North, Seattle

· Committee members will be joined by County Executive Dow Constantine on a tour of the Science Center’s current exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different? After the tour there will be a panel discussion that will include members and:

o   Science Center CEO Bryce Siedl,

o   Pamela Taylor, Director of the Center for the Study of Justice in Society and an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Seattle University,

o   Martin Friedman, Director of Re-Entry and Family Services with the YWCA Seattle/King/Snohomish and internal consultant for the YWCA’s Race and Social Justice Initiative.

 

Metropolitan King County Council – 1:30 p.m.

 

–Councilmember will recognize Youth Eastside Services as the agency celebrates its 45th Anniversary

–Councilmembers will recognize the Wallingford Farmers Market, the 2012 Farmers Market of the Year

 

 

Councilmembers are scheduled to discuss and possibly act on:

• An ordinance authorizing a renewal of the cable television franchise with Comcast of Washington IV Inc. and Comcast Cable Holdings, LLC, for a period ending July 31, 2023 (Substitute Ordinance 2013-0414.2).

 

Tuesday, November 19

 

 

Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee – 9:30 a.m.

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:

 

• An ordinance authorizing amendments to amendments to interlocal cooperation agreements with the cities of Kent and Seattle for the disbursement of conservation futures tax levy funds (Ordinance 2013-0469).

• An ordinance authorizing an interlocal agreement with the King County flood control zone district extending the duration of the interlocal agreement through December 31, 2014 (Ordinance 2013-0495).

 

 

Briefings:

 

• King County’s Strategic Climate Action Plan: Progress Report on Goal Area 3 (Forest and Agriculture) and Goal Area 5 Preparing for Climate Change Impacts) and update on National Climate Action Plan (Briefing No. 2013-B0160).

• Sound Transit Long-Range Plan Update (Briefing No. 2013-B0161).

 

Budget and Fiscal Management Committee – Canceled

Government Accountability and Oversight Committee – 1:30 p.m. ***Special Meeting***

Committee members are scheduled to discuss and possibly recommend to the full council:

 

• An ordinance establishing an accountability structure to guide the county in implementing its vision articulated

 

in the accountable business transformation program charter (Ordinance 2013-0224).
