The city of Maple Valley’s Kids Festival is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17.
This year there is even more to do than ever before. All children from toddler to 11 will find free activities at the festival this year. Good food (burgers and hotdogs), entertainment, face painting, crafts, the candy cannon, model airplanes, inflatable toys and interactive exhibits. Warm up your throwing arm and take your revenge on the lifeguards at the dunk tank.
Festival sponsors include Junior Junction Day School, Maple Valley Professional Firefighters and Ravensdale Bible Church.
The Maple Valley Police Bike Challenge
The Maple Valley Police Department is once again sponsoring the popular free bike challenge course. The course will be designed completely within Lake Wilderness Park and will test rider’s off-road abilities. Riders must compete without the help of training wheels. Riders will compete against children of the same age for time as they race through the ups and downs of the age appropriate routes.
Registration and practice runs will take place at picnic shelter No. 3 starting at 8 a.m. and the racing begins at 9 a.m. All children must have a signed waiver, proper clothing and a bicycle helmet prior to participating.
Age divisions are 6 and under, 7 years old, 8 years old, 9 years old, 10 years old, 11 years old and 12 years old. Ages 8 and under will compete on the short course and ages 9-12 will compete on the long course.
Free bicycle raffle
The Maple Valley Police Department will raffle away one bicycle for a boy and a girl at the challenge. Each child between 4 and 12 who attempts the challenge course will be entered into the raffle. Challenge and raffle winners will be announced at the main stage during the Kids’ Festival at approximately 12:30 p.m..
