Amanda Allison, a junior at Tahoma Senior High School in Maple Valley and Ruben Aguilar, a sophomore at Kentlake High School in Kent, participated in the Senate Page Program during the second week of the 2012 session.

Allison and Aguilar were both sponsored by Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn).

The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to get firsthand experience working in the Legislature. Pages get a variety of experiences in their week-long stay in Olympia, including running errands, delivering mail, and paging in the Senate Chamber. Pages are also taught about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Allison was one of 22 students chosen to participate last week.

Allison is her school’s ASB leader and is on the speech and debate team. She keeps busy playing sports such as basketball, softball, and volleyball. Aguilar is involved in DECA, as well as his high school debate team. In the classroom he enjoys English, history, and loves human geography.

Allison is the daughter of Bill and Kelly Allison. Aguilar is the son of Jose Martinez and Angela Gonzales of Covington.
