The Kent School District will host the annual Technology Exposition at the Kent ShoWare Center from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. The Tech Expo is an event where students and teachers have an opportunity to demonstrate how technology is used in their classrooms alongside local businesses showcasing technology in careers. This partnership provides students and community members a chance to see how technology skills acquired today translate directly into future professions.

Technology isn’t just about the latest fancy gadget; it is also about problem solving, creativity, basic education and real world application. Every child in America needs 21st century knowledge and skills to succeed as effective citizens, workers and leaders. There is a profound gap between the knowledge and skills most students learn in school and the knowledge and skills they need in typical communities and workplaces. Each student and teacher presentation at the expo integrates 21st century themes and/or skills into the teaching of core academic subjects in some format.

Last year, the Tech Expo more than 4,000 attended. Changes to the 2011 Tech Expo include bigger aisles and more parking.

This event is organized by the district and sponsored by The Boeing Company and other local businesses.
