Kent firefighters responded to a house fire Monday morning. It was the second fire during the early morning hours firefighters were called to fight.

The second fire was in the 11000 block of SE 217 Street. This fire was reported at 6:48 a.m. The earlier house fire took place at 1 a.m. in the 12400 block of Southeast 235 Street.

One adult female was sent to a local hospital from the second fire as a precaution due to smoke inhalation. Her injuries were not considered life threatening.

The fire was limited to one room of the single story home, but there was extensive smoke damage throughout the house, rendering it uninhabitable. Family members will be caring for the displaced woman when she is released from the hospital.

Firefighters from Renton and King County paramedics also assisted at this incident.

In the first fire a family of three was awakened by the sounding of the smoke alarm and the smell of smoke at 1 a.m. Monday morning in their Kent Easthill home. The home owner got up to investigate and found smoke throughout the house. The family exited the house and called 911.

The first arriving Kent Fire Department unit found smoke and flames showing from one side of the residence located in the 12400 block of SE 235 St. The fire was quickly located and extinguished within 15 minutes. Firefighters searched the house for any hidden fire and found none. The family has been displaced by the fire and will stay locally with family. No injuries to the residents or firefighters. The cause of the early morning fire is under investigation.
