The Covington Chamber of Commerce honored Juliet Perry with its 14th Annual Education Volunteer of the Year Award.

Perry is the president of the Cedar Heights Middle School PTSA. She was nominated by Cedar Heights Principal Heidi Maurer.

Maurer said in a statement that Perry helped increase enrollment in the school’s PTSA in recent years which in turn increased involvement and that has provided a “constant presence at different events including Open House, conferences, presentation nights, sporting events, dances and other activities.”

“She provides the PTSA with a detail weekly communication on events connected to the school,” Maurer said. “Parents are better informed as a result of her constant communication about activities, school data and volunteer opportunities.”

In addition, Perry established an events committee to work with school staff to increase parent involvement, which led to an anti-bullying effort that was kicked off by Pack Pride Week in February. She also worked with the administration team to implement a Student of the Month award.

“There isn’t a day that goes by that she isn’t on campus contributing to our community,” Maurer said. “Her work is enabling the school and the parents to work collaboratively to establish a safe, learning focused school for our students.”

The chamber presents this annual award to a volunteer who exhibits outstanding service and contributions benefiting schools, teachers, students or administrative staff in a Covington area school in the Kent School District.
