A Kent Fire investigator is currently searching for the cause of a house fire in the 26100 block of 114th Avenue Southeast that was first reported at 10:22 p.m. Monday.

When Kent firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke and flames coming from the second story of the small two story, single family residence. According to the owner, who was contacted and came to the scene, the home was not in use. The last occupants moved out approximately one month ago.

No one was injured in the fire and several searches of the building confirmed that no one was inside. The biggest danger to firefighters and the public was the live power line which came down when it burned through the connection to the house. Puget Sound Energy responded to the scene and disconnected the power source. King County paramedics were also on scene as a precaution.

Kent Kangley Road was closed in both directions for two hours by Kent Police due to hose lines which crossed the major east-west thoroughfare. Kent Kangley has been reopened to all traffic.
