Governor Christine Gregoire made a mid-September campaign swing through the south King County area, with Kent Station among her stops.
The governor spent about an hour Sept. 13 visiting several shops and the Green River Community College branch, according to John Hinds, Kent Station’s general manager.
Gregoire spokeswoman Debra Carnes said Gregoire wanted to visit Kent Station because it’s the type of mixed-use development the governor supports.
“It was really something she wanted to take a look at and see how it’s going,” Carnes said.
She added that Gregoire’s top priority is to strengthen the economy, partly through mixed-use, public-private partnerships. “Kent Station is an example of that,” Carnes said.
