From trail runs, live music and more, King County Parks is revving up for a full summer of great entertainment and recreation options.

Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park
SCOTT Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series
June 14 – Five kilometers, Eight miles or 13 miles
The 12th-annual trail run series resumes June 14 with a choice of races spanning five kilometers, eight miles or 13 miles along Cougar Mountain’s beautiful trail network. Join with family and friends on a run through cool forests and past historic artifacts that make Cougar Mountain such a treasured part of King County Parks’ 26,000-acre network of parks and open space. 2014 Washington Brewers Festival
June 13-15
What better way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend than spending a little time with Dad at the 2014 Washington Brewer’s Festival at Marymoor Park? Featuring more than 300 unique beers from nearly 90 Washington state breweries, this year’s celebration of all things hoppy and malty includes great food, live music, a root beer garden and kids’ area, craft booths, activities and more. The event is 21 and over on Friday, June 13, and the whole family is welcome on Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15.
Marymoor Park Concerts presented by Swedish Medical Center Redmond

The Fray, with Barcelona and Oh Honey
The Marymoor Park Concerts presented by Swedish Medical Center Redmond kicks off a jam-packed 2014 calendar June 17 with power pop journeymen The Fray. This Denver-based group achieved almost immediate success with their debut album, 2005’s “How to Save a Life.” Commercial success has continued for the band, which is now touring in support of their fourth album, “Helios.” Seattle-based indie-band Barcelona and the Brooklyn duo Oh Honey are the opening acts.

Gavin DeGraw & Matt Nathanson with Mary Lambert
New York-based pop singer Gavin DeGraw hit the big-time more than a decade ago when his song “I Don’t Want to Be” was selected as the theme music for the popular TV show, “One Tree Hill.” Last year, DeGraw released his fifth studio album, “Make a Move” – his third album to break into the top 10 chart in the U.S. He’s sold more than one million records and received Grammy and Billboard Music award nominations. Matt Nathanson has also achieved widespread fame in part by having his music featured on popular TV shows, including “NCIS” and “Scrubs.” His top-selling single, “Come on Get Higher” has sold more than two million copies. Opening act is popular Seattle singer Mary Lambert, who got her big break by appearing on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love.”
Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center
Get in shape for the summer by becoming a regular at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, where you’ll find a full slate of open and family swims. Can’t swim? No problem! Lessons with certified teachers are available for all ages and skill levels. The Aquatic Center is a legacy venue from the 1990 Goodwill Games, and has hosted numerous club, state, collegiate, national and international competitions for nearly a quarter century.

Sure, it’s still more than one month away, but anyone interested in taking part in this wildly popular event should act quickly to snap up tickets along with a prime camping spot. Last year’s inaugural Timber! Music Festival was a huge success, with its fantastic outdoor setting and intimate staging. This year’s lineup promises to be just as good – if not better. Featuring top acts such as Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires, J Mascis, Damien Jurado and nearly two dozen more performers, Timber! is quickly becoming a summertime essential for people who love music.
