Organizers of Maple Valley Days are looking for anyone to help volunteer at the event set for this weekend at Lake Wilderness Park.

Cindy Webb, president of the Maple Valley Days Committee, stated that help is needed to assist the vendors in unloading their vehicles, as well as cleaning up the Park Sunday.

According to Webb, who is also the vendor director, there will be 120 vendors at the three-day event.

“It’s a great time to come together,” she said. “It’s a great time to see your neighbors and friends.”

The committee is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers.

Maple Valley Days first started in 1950 when citizens held a fundraiser to purchase a fire engine for the area. At a dollar per ticket, the firemen were able to raise the necessary $1000, and the festival continued. The parade was introduced in 1961.

In 1998, the festival was moved to Lake Wilderness Park.

“It’s fun to see all of the people who have made Maple Valley what is it come year after year,” Webb said. “I do it to see them. It’s why I volunteer.”

To volunteer, contact the Committee at 425-281-2708 or e-mail them at info@maplevalleydays.com.
