King County Parks currently has community garden plots available for rent at North Green River Park near Kent. Each plot measures 10 feet wide by 40 feet long, and costs just $50 to rent per season. Plots are renewable from year to year.

The available garden plots are located at a bend in the Green River near Central Avenue South and South 259th Street near Kent and are easily accessible from State Route 167. The land features enough sunny acreage for more than 100 garden plots where fresh vegetables and flowers can grow for months on end.

The North Green River Park site is one of three community gardens in King County Parks. Community gardens are also rented at Marymoor Park near Redmond and White Center Heights Park; those locations are fully rented for 2012.

However, registrations are now being accepted for garden plots at North Green River Park. Act fast, as there are only about 15 plots left for the 2012 season. Interested gardeners can call 206-205-3661 to request an application form and a chart that shows the available plots from which to choose.
