Terry and Talayna Worth are hosting a fundraising dinner for the Black Diamond Community Center’s Before and After School Kids (BASK) program beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Black Diamond Eagles, 32618 Railroad Ave.

Talayna Worth said her 8-year-old son attends the after-school program and they love Helen Bittner who runs the program. She said Bittner does amazing things for the children and she could not think of a better way to thank her than giving her money raised for the program.

The evening will start with grilled Willapa Bay oysters on the half shell and cocktails from 5-6 p.m., followed from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with smoked, baby-back ribs from Black Diamond’s Frank’s Meats, corn on the cob, cowboy baked beans, coleslaw and corn bread

Raffles, music and dancing to a live band close out the evening’s festivities.

The event is open to the public. The cost is $12 per person, first-come, first-served, with all proceeds benefitting the BASK program.

BASK is the center’s licensed low-cost childcare program for children grades kindergarten through six at the Black Diamond Elementary School. Black Diamond Community Center staff provide a variety of educational and recreational activities for the kids – games, arts and crafts, science projects. Summer hours are 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and youth need to bring lunches. Fees are on a sliding scale with discounts available for families on the free or reduced lunch program through the Enumclaw School District.
