As the last count on the November General Election was complete at 4:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 the following results are how candidates and state measures stood.
Out of more than 1.2 million registered voters nearly 933,000 ballots have been counted with a remainder 19,000 left to count, according the King County Elections website.
The next ballot count is scheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 12, the elections website stated.
Local
The city of Covington’s Proposition No. 1 — sales and use tax for transportation improvements — is failing with 53.01 percent no votes to 46.99 percent yes.
“It is unfortunate that Prop. 1 was unsuccessful in passing,” Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner wrote Friday in an email. “It would have brought in over $1 million annually, dedicated strictly for roads and would have saved our Covington residents at least $20 year in taxes, if not more, by eliminating the Car Tab fee.”
“We will look at discussing the next steps at a future meeting, most likely at our Summit in January,” he continued.
Legislative
Currently in the race for 47th District State Senator Mona Das is leading incumbent Joe Fain with 50.51 percent.
Also in the 47th District, Debra Entenman is leading incumbent Mark Hargrove with 53.17 percent.
While incumbent Pat Sullivan is leading challenger Ted Cooke with 62.61 percent of the votes.
In Legislative District 5 Bill Ramos is leading Chad Magendanz with 51.4 percent.
Paul Graves, 5th District position No. 2 incumbent, is currently trailing Lisa Callan — who has 52.12 percent of votes.
Meanwhile in the race for 11th District representative positions No. 1 and 2 — Zack Hudgins, position No. 1, and Steve Bergquist, position No. 2, both do not have a challenger.
Congressional
In the race for the 8th District U.S. Representative seat, Kim Schrier is leading Dino Rossi with 57.83 percent.
And in the 9th District, incumbent Adam Smith has a significant lead over challenger Sarah Smith — he currently holds 68.19 percent of the votes.
Federal
Incumbent Maria Cantwell currently has a sizable lead over challenger Susan Hutchison. Cantwell has 73.94 percent of votes.
State Measures
• Initiative No. 1631 — the Washington Carbon Emissions Fee and Revenue Allocation Initiative — has 57.42 percent yes votes and 42.58 no.
• Initiative No. 1634 — taxation of certain items intended for human consumption — has 45.23 percent no and 54.77 percent yes.
• Initiative No. 1639 — concerns firearms — has 76.3 percent yes votes and 23.7 percent no.
• Initiative No. 940 — concerns law enforcement — has 71.59 percent yes votes and 28.41 percent no.
King County
Dan Satterberg is leading Daron Morris in the race for Metropolitan King County Prosecuting Attorney with 71.09 percent of the votes.
